Quidditch through the ages
Quidditch is a fictional game I read about in the Harry Potter series. This is a game played by wizards and witches. The game is played in the air with the players riding their brooms.There are seven players in a team; three Chasers, two Beaters, a Keeper and a Seeker. Four balls are there; one Quaffle, two Bludgers and the Golden snitch. The Chasers try to put the Quaffle in one of the three hoops on either side of the field, which are protected by the teams’ Keepers. The Bludgers are two balls which are bewitched to fly and knock people off their brooms(like I said, the game is played on brooms) and the Beaters have bats to hit them. The Seeker has to catch the Snitch, which is very fast, before the other teams to earn 150 points and end the game. The team with the most points wins.
I liked reading the Harry Potter series a lot. After finishin the series, I came to know that there were there more books related to the wizarding world, these were: Tales of Beedle the Bard, Fantastic beasts and where to find them, and Quidditch through the ages. So I bought the whole set and the one I read first was Quidditch through the ages.
Its not actually a story book, but it is very interesting as it tells one about the history of the magical game. It is a short book of just 120 pages. The author of this book is J.K. Rowling, who also wrote the Harry Potter series. The book was first published in 2001 by Bloomsbury.
Everything about the game of Quidditch is told in the book, which is: The evolution of the broom, the rules of the game, teams of Britain and Ireland, old broom games, changes in Quidditch since the fourtheenth century, precautions to protect it from being seen by muggles and modern Quidditch. According to the Harry Potter series, it is also available in the Hogwarts library, which is the wizarding school.
I liked reading the book a lot. Even though it is not a story book, I liked reading the facts about the game of Quidditch. Quidditch is an important part of the Harry Potter series and it is extremely thrilling & very interesting. I liked the part most about the teams of Britain and Ireland.
J.K. Rowling is a British author, best known for writing the Harry Potter fantasy series, which has won multiple awards and sold more than 500 million copies. She has also written the Fantastic beasts and where to find them, which has been made into a major motion picture like all other Harry Potter books.
I recommend this book to the readers of age 8-13. Other recommended books are Fantastic beasts and where to find them, Tales of Beedle the Bard and the Harry Potter series.
